Life continues to degrade in ways predictable and unexpected.

I studied the work of a particular Darda'i sofer, Moshe Tsarum, and picked up parts of his writing which I liked. This is from the fourth correct mezuzah I wrote since I've been here (and the final one required for the flat).

You can see it in a bunch of sizes here.

This drawing is about the onset of prophesy, for Daniel taking the place of a body that will never fully develop, its roots in the offstage incisions at the beginning of the book. Animals wriggle out of a variety of wounds, although the blood is displaced. Daniel is all about this displacement. He lives in exile, placid, and the reader detects only a vague sadness, but when he dreams he dreams of incredible violence. Missing body parts find new homes in strange creatures whose only desire seems to be destroy each other. As I've said before, I'm not overly impressed by readings of Daniel as political predictions. This is the inner violence of a reserved courtier in a strange court. Abomination and redemption are his quiet experiences of himself.
