Parrot Circumcision
Nov. 21st, 2010 05:05 pmI dreamt that we had to make a bris for our lorrie, HaGra. There was a big celebration and all our neighbours came. In the dream, Ribi Ba (a sage from the Yerushalmi Talmud) lived in our basement and was our (!) grandfather. We sent one of the stepkids down to go bring him up, and he was characteristically grumpy. But when he found out that his "great-grandson" (the parrot) was getting circumcised, he became slightly merrier.
When the time for the cut came, I turned my head away, and when it was over, turned back to look. But HaGra had changed into a roasted, breaded chicken, gushing blood! On the other hand, everyone was celebrating, so I thought maybe there was no cause for concern. "But can someone bandage him already?" I asked, while Ribi Ba drunkenly climbed on top of a lampshade, singing.
